1.    Providing emergency relief to the flood victims in the Mainland
In July 2023, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and Northeast China have been seriously battered by the heavy rain brought by typhoon Doksuri, which caused severe flooding in many areas. An urgent FC meeting was held on 6 Sep and a total sum of HK$70 million was approved for the Disaster Relief Fund to provide emergency relief to the flood victims in the Mainland and to meet other calls for grants to relief organisations for disaster relief in the remainder of the 2023-24 financial year.

2.    Participated in the eighth Belt and Road Summit
On 13 Sep, I was invited to the eighth Belt and Road Summit. The Vice Premier of the State Council delivered a keynote speech during the opening session of the summit. He summarised the fruitful achievements made in promoting the Belt and Road Initiative over the past decade and expressed his hope that Hong Kong could deepen regional co-operation to further expand its economic and trade networks; improve financial services to further boost its financial connectivity; gather professional services to further leverage its wealth of talent; and deepen cultural exchanges to further promote people-to-people bonds.

3.    Met with the Housing Delegation led by Hawaii State Senator
On 25 Sep, as the Chairman of the Panel on Housing, together with other LegCo members, I met with members of the 2023 Singapore and Hong Kong Housing Delegation led by Hawaii State Senator Stanley Chang. We exchanged our views on public housing, land development and other related issues.

4.    Joined the opening ceremony for the Hong Kong Offshore Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Terminal

On 21 Sep, I was invited to the opening ceremony for the Hong Kong Offshore LNG Terminal, marking a new chapter in low-carbon power generation. The construction of the offshore LNG terminal took place in the midst of the pandemic, exemplifying Hong Kong’s engineering prowess and our city’s can-do spirit. Being the first of its kind in Hong Kong, the offshore LNG terminal bears great significance in supporting the city’s energy transition to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. The operation of the terminal has enhanced Hong Kong’s fuel supply stability by the addition of a new supply source for natural gas, facilitating the city’s energy transition.

5.    launched “Night Vibes Hong Kong” Campaign

On 14 Sep, I took part in the launch ceremony of the "Night Vibes Hong Kong" activities. Different sectors of the community play their part in staging a wealth of diversified night-time events with local characteristics all over the city starting from mid-September, covering entertainment, arts, culture, consumption and more to create a dynamic vibe for citizens and tourists to feel the vibrancy and energy of Hong Kong's nightlife. I ever raised similar suggestions to the Government regarding night-time events. I am happy to see that different stakeholders are exploring new ideas to enhance the attractiveness of the Hong Kong night activities.

6.    MTR x Hong Kong Engineers Performance

On 28 Sep, together with some members of the MTR engineering team, who are passionate about Chinese music, we performed Chinese music at the MTR living art stage at the Central Subway of Hong Kong Station to celebrate the National Day and the Mid-Autumn Festival. The performance attracted commuters to stop by to relax and enjoy an art-healing journey from the hectic city life.
