1.  Submission to the CE on the Policy Address 2019

The CE will deliver her Policy Address in Oct. I wrote to her on this on 31 August. I highlighted key areas including Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area development plan, Belt and Road Initiative, smart city, housing  and  land supply, industrial development, environmental protection, and urged the Government to:
a. promote cooperation and construction in the Greater Bay Area and Belt and Road Development
b. expedite smart city development
c. develop diversified  industries 
d . concern about the livelihood of the people and build a high-quality sustainable living

2.  Submission to the Government on ways to enhance the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area development plan
Together with some other LegCo members, I submitted a proposal to the Government on 29 August on ways to enhance the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area development plan. I urged to have a more comprehensive mutual recognition of professional qualifications between Hong Kong and the mainland, especially in construction-related professions. Other suggestions include housing solutions for Hong Kong youth working on the mainland, an upgraded mainland internship scheme for Hong Kong young people and an electronic identification system to make it easier for people to travel between the mainland and Hong Kong.
 
3.  Held special meetings on issues of construction sites of Shatin to Central Link Project
On 31 August, the Panel on Transport discussed the incident relating to the construction of the platform slab of Hung Hom station extension works under the Shatin to Central Link Project and follow-up actions taken by the Government. On the same day, Subcommittee on Matters Relating to Railways also held a special meeting to discuss on the issues relating to the settlement of buildings and other facilities in the vicinity of construction sites of Shatin to Central Link Project. To address public concern over the foundation works nearby caused settlement of railway structures, the Administration announced on 6 August 2018 that relevant government departments together with MTRCL had reviewed the existing arrangement and stipulated measures to enhance communication and improve information dissemination arrangement. Meanwhile, MTRCL publicized information on the list of 64 projects where settlement situation was being monitored within the railway protection areas to enhance transparency. 
 
4.  Science and Technology sector visited the Greater Bay Area
I led a delegation with over 30 representatives of the Science and Technology sector of Hong Kong to visit the Greater Bay Area from 20 to 21 August.  The 2-day visit programme covered some latest development of innovation and Technology in Shenzhen and Zhuhai, including some incubators targeting at new startups from Hong Kong.  We also took the opportunity to meet with representatives of the municipal governments of the cities to exchange views on issues of mutual concern.
 
5.  Observed road and traffic conditions on Lantau Island
Together with some LegCo members, I conducted a site visit to Lantau Island on 8 August to follow up on the improvement of the road safety and the traffic network on the Island. We observed the progress of the road widening and road bend improvement works. We also visited the Tai O Ferry Pier and received a briefing by Government representatives on the public transport services there.
